December 17th, 2009

Travelling to Europe is a dream nurtured by millions of people all over the world and only a few can actually fulfil this dream in reality. Europe has been the most favoured destination for most of the tourists for a long time. This continent is blessed with some of the most exotic destinations tempting people to come and visit them now and again. The introduction of cheap and budget airlines has come across as a big boost and now common man too can realize their dream of visiting Europe.

There are several tourist attractions in Europe and the list is endless. Nonetheless, here is a list of ten top widely appreciated tourist destinations which has been made keeping in view the tastes of a wide spectrum of people worldwide.

The Millennium Wheel and the Tower of London, London (U.K)

London is one of the most sought after destinations in Europe. With its rich history it is surely a hot spot for one and all. The best places to visit while in London are the Millennium Wheel and the Tower of London. The millennium wheel also known as the London Eye has a striking height of 135 meters and is the most popular tourist spot. The Tower of London is actually the Royal palace of the Queen. This monument by the Thames has a lot of historical significance.

The Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Museum, Paris (France)

Paris too has plenty of tourist attractions and the beauty and significance of each surpasses the other making all of them a must visit for the tourists. But if I have to choose among the best for tourists, then it will have to be the Eiffel Tower and Louvre Museum. A landmark guarding the richness and beauty of Paris is the Eiffel Tower which is the tallest tower in France. The beautiful lighting of this Tower creates an enchanting atmosphere and mesmerizes one and all.

Art lovers should never miss the Louvre museum in Paris which is arguably one of its kinds and the best art museum in the world. There is an awesome collection of precious masterpieces of art which dates back to 19th century AD. I am sure one can never stop admiring them but just getting an opportunity to have a look is surely a lifetime experience!

The Roman Colosseum and Milan, Italy (Rome)

Rome is another country which has a rich history to captivate the world. People visiting Italy must make it a point to visit the Roman Colosseum. It is a huge and marvellous wonder with brilliant architecture in the Roman style. It was the amphitheatre with a seating capacity of 50,000 people in the ancient times! It still stands tall and firm bearing testimony to the European history through ages.

If you are a diehard fashion freak then I would suggest you make Milan your next stop in Italy. Shopping is a great fun and there are loads of options to enjoy quality entertainment mediums like theatre and cinemas. Great for foodies too!

The House of Anne Frank, Amsterdam (Netherlands)

Who doesn’t know Anne Frank! The story of this Jewish young girl and writer whose war-time diaries have revealed various facts of that time are looked upon as masterpieces of literature as well. Her house has been renovated to a museum with a bookshop and a cafe and attracts millions of tourists every year from all over the world.

Granada (Spain)

Spain is another beautiful country with lovely beaches that soaks in the sun. In my view beaches are found everywhere and wouldn’t be of much significance as compared to your visit to the Alhambra Palace in Granada. This palace was the official residence of Granada’s Islamic rulers. Here, one can witness some of the supreme illustrations of Islamic art and architecture.

Tivoli Garden, Copenhagen (Denmark)

If you are planning a trip to Denmark, then I will surely recommend that you visit the Tivoli Garden in Copenhagen. With a history which dates back to 150 years this is a joy garden which has acquired world fame over the years. It is perhaps one of the oldest amusement parks in Europe and offers a host of activities making it one of the top tourist destinations Europe has to offer. There are theatres, restaurants, musical bands, lake, all in a beautifully landscaped area which illuminates in the night with a heavenly bliss.

Skiing and adventure spot, Switzerland

If you are an adventure freak and an avid admirer of natural beauty then your Switzerland must be on your travel agenda. This beautiful country has mountain ranges which are by far the best in entire Europe offering the best natural skiing tracks. The country is famous worldwide for its clean and fresh environment and with a picture perfect beauty it stands out as one of the most sought after destinations in more ways than one!

Top 5 Romantic Beaches

June 2nd, 2009

With so much beauty in the world, it's hard to cut the list down to only five. However once you see these five, I am sure these will be on top of your list as well. These beaches leave you speechless.

Anse Source d'Argent, Seychelles

Located on the small beautiful tropical island of La Digue in Seychelles with a population of only 2000. This secluded paradise is definitely worth a visit. Even though it’s the second best beach in the area it is still far more impressive and mesmerizing than most beaches in the world. It’s also ideal for snorkeling and sun bathing. A short boat ride from the main island Mahé is your best route to the Island. However, these days it’s probably wise to stay clear of these waters due to risks of running into pirates.

Datai Beach, Langkawi, Malaysia

Datai Beach is located at Pulau Langkawi (the largest island in the region). This is one of the most popular getaway spots for travelers. Beautiful ocean view, clear water and white sand all add to the mix. You can catch a direct fifty five minute flight from Kaula Lumpur to here. The climate is here tropical. Try to avoid planning a trip between August and September because it’s a heavy rain season here.

Maroma Beach, Mexico

When you name beaches Mexico has to be in the list. And course where else will you go besides Cancun for beautiful, heavenly beaches. It’s located about 30 miles from Cancun on the coast of Yucatan Peninsula. Best way to get here to fly in to Cancun International Airport and drive the rest of the way. To avoid rain you might want to stay clear of the area during September and October.

Negril, Jamaica

You want a perfect beach weather, there is no way you can overlook Jamica. So where to go. The name is Nergil. Two decades ago this was a small fishing island and now one of the world’s largest tourist destination. It’s seven miles of while sandy beaches and clear water leaves everyone’s jaws dropped.

Maldives Islands

You can’t have a round up like this and not include the beaches at the Maldives Islands. With over 1,192 islets, there is no way you can’t find a beach of your liking. These warm beaches are blessed with sunshine all year around, however the best time to visit is between November and April.

Top Five Bungee Jumping Locations

April 27th, 2009

There is no better way of experiencing an incredible adrenaline rush than bungee jumping. Though actually choosing a location that is overwhelming even for extreme sports veterans isn't easy. Here's a list of five that will get almost anyone's heart racing.

5. Bloukrans Bridge

Located in South Africa this 709ft drop into the Bloukran River is also known as the Mecca for bungee fans. This is the highest spot you can bungee jump off of in the world even though the drop itself comes only second our first ranked bungee destination. The walk to the platform is an exciting adventure on its own. To add more to the adventure there is now also a fly fox ride & a cable slide, though it’s not recommended for the faint hearted.

4. Perrine Bridge

Yet another exciting drop into the river. Located in Idaho, US this is a 486ft drop into the Snake River. Perrine Bridge happens to be the only man made bridge in the US where bungee jumping is allowed throughout the year without a permit. This also happens to be the bridge where Evel Kneivel attempted to jump the canyon on his motorcycle in 1974.

3. Victoria Falls Bridge

The 500ft drop in these surroundings is overwhelming. The Victoria Falls Bridge over Zambezi River connects Zimbabwe and Zambia is reckoned a perfect spot by bungee jumpers to get a close look at nature and spray from the water falls.

2. Volcano Bungee near Pucon, Chile

Not getting your adrenaline rush. This is by far the most dangerous and the most expensive bungee jump. You have to take a helicopter out to an active volcano near Pucon, Chile…. YES ACTIVE. And then nose dive into the molten boiling lava…. This exciting near death experience only costs just under $10,000 for a six day package (including accommodation & less life threatening activities).

1. Macau Tower

Even though nothing might make sense after the volcano drop but this is by far one of the best bungee jumping destinations ever. This 18 second drop of 762ft falls short only 30 feet off the ground. This is definitely one of those moments where you life flashes before your eyes and you remember god the most.
